João Cruz Bio

João Cruz (1990) is a photographer and videographer currently based in Porto.
He develops projects with a wide range of clients in the areas of catering and beverages, personal branding and portraits, applying his own approach to various themes.
His personal work is based on the connection between people and nature, identity and sense of place. Starting from existential questions, it is curiosity that drives him to photograph and discover new realities, in order to reflect on and encourage debate about them.
After completing a degree in Audiovisual Communication Technology in 2012, he has worked as a freelancer to this day. In 2016 he joined WOW Agency and in 2018 The Fladgate Partnership, companies where he is responsible for photography and video. As sound director he was part of the team for the films "Cinzas, Ensaio Sobre o Fogo" by Pedro Flores and "A Mãe E O Mar" by Gonçalo Tocha.
Through the European Voluntary Service he travelled to Sigulda, Latvia, where he spent a year as a volunteer in a Waldorf kindergarten. During this time he developed his personal projects about the country and the region. Since 2014 he has been teaching photography and video in various contexts, to groups in associations, companies and private classes.
